Arnold Ray Hudson WELLMAN, Iowa - Arnold Ray Hudson, 69, Wellman, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, Powell Funeral Home, Wellman. Burial will be at Piersol Cemetery near North English. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, with family present from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the American Heart Association, American Lung Association and American Cancer Society. Mr. Hudson was born May 31, 1936, near Wellman, the youngest son of Lawrence and Thelma Perrin Hudson. He first married Betty Louise Bell and to this union was born a son, Charles Dwain Hudson. He later married Evelyn Marie Collett on Nov. 20, 1959, in Wellman 'Ray', as he was lovingly known, grew to manhood in the Wellman and North English area and spent his entire life in and around this community. It can be said he never met a stranger and never turned away anyone in need of time and caring. He and Evelyn happily spent 46 years together, living in the Wellman and Kalona area. She will greatly miss his loving caring ways. He worked at the University of Iowa in the custodial department and later at the Kalona Sale Barn. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; two brothers, Gerald Hudson and wife Joyce of Stevensville, Mont. and Vernon 'Dick' Hudson of South English; two sisters, Maxine Stagner of Columbus Junction and Arlene Parsons and husband Glen of Luther, Okla.; his mother-in-law, Lemira Collett of Williamsburg; three sisters-in-law, Johnette Hudson of Keswick, Beverly VanDee and husband Mike of Cedar Rapids and Wanda VanDee and husband Ed of Marion; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles 'Chuck' Dwain Hudson on Aug. 21, 1994; two brothers, Gene Hudson and Tom Hudson; his stepfather, Ivan Enfield; and his father-in-law, Raymond Collett.
