MUSCATINE, Iowa - Dale Stanley Honts Sr., 83, of Muscatine, died Thurs-day, Jan. 10, 2008, at Lutheran Homes. Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery, with full military rites by the combined units of the V.F.W. Post 1565 and the American Legion Post 27. Chaplin Travis Fisher of Lutheran Homes will officiate. Casketbearers will be Kenneth Honts, Rick Honts, Jon Honts, Lee Honts, Joseph Honts and Dale Honts III. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice. Mr. Honts was born Oct. 7, 1924, in Muscatine, the son of Glen J. and Odetta A. Gerard Honts. He married Beverly A. McGrew on Dec. 3, 1948, in Muscatine. He had served in the US Army during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post 1565. Mr. Honts was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and was employed with Young Bros. for 37 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping and especially spending time with his children and his grandchildren. Mr. Honts will be deeply missed by his wife; four sons, Kenneth (Sandi) Honts, Michael Honts of Buffalo, Rickey Giulia) Honts of Fruitland and Jon (Robin) Honts of Muscatine; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dale Honts Jr.; a daughter; Shirley Harris; one granddaughter; and three brothers.
