Donald W. Allbee MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa--Donald William Allbee, 77, of Marshalltown, formerly Muscatine, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2013, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at St. Mathias Church. Burial will take place in Parr Cemetery will full military rites by the combined units of the V.F.W. Post 1565 and the American Legion Post 27. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at Gannon Hall. No visitation has been planned. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Donald was born on January 19, 1936, in Muscatine, the son of Cecil A. and Genevieve A. Hopewell Allbee. From 1954-1959, Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army Airborne Division. He joined a parachute club in Muscatine and had a life changing accident while parachuting when he was 24. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and enjoyed watching the news and reading-especially about the Civil War. Donald will be missed by his brother, Leslie A. Allbee and wife, Ruth, of Muscatine; a sister, Cecelia A. Allbee and husband, Larry Speer, of Flagstaff, Arizona; an aunt, Bernice Verre and husband, Joe, of the Quad Cities; an uncle, Patrick Hopewell and wife, Florine, of Muscatine; nephews, Randy Lusson of Portland, Oregon, and Bob Allbee of Muscatine; and a niece, Laura Lusson of Woodburn, Minnesota. Donald was preceded in death by his parents.
