DOROTHY STROMER MUSCATINE, Iowa - Dorothy M. Stromer, 83, of Muscatine, died on Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at Unity Hospital. Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Ostrem of the Zion Lutheran Church will officiate. Pallbearers will be Robert Wadden, Tim Wadden, Bruce Wadden, Troy Wadden, Roger Wadden, Jason Wadden and David Stromer Jr. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Dorothy Stromer Memorial Fund. Mrs. Stromer was born on Aug. 31, 1919, in Columbus Junction, the daughter of Leroy and Grace Fordman Preston. She married Kenneth Austin Stromer on Nov. 10, 1945, in Iowa City. She had worked as a lead lady for Thatcher Plastic's formerly known as Ceylon Plastics, and also Louis Rich. She retired from Heinz Co. in 1980. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She helped raise all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a special grandchild, Kellie Ann. She is survived by two sons, David Stromer and his wife, Louise, of Fairport, and Dennis Stromer of Bettendorf; one daughter, Juanita Marie Bierman of Muscatine; eight grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Kimball of Lowery City, Missouri, and Betty Blake of Muscatine. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth, in 1974, one son, Roger, three grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers.
