EDWARD BARTKUS MUSCATINE, Iowa - Edward A. Bartkus, 90, of 611 Lake Park Blvd., died Monday, April 12, 2004, in Muscatine. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2004, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Dennis Hakes of the Walnut Park Baptist Church will officiate. Casket bearers will be Larry Dearing, Patrick Junker, and Douglas Chatfield. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 Thursday, April 15, 2004, at the funeral home. On line condolences may be left to the Bartkus family at www.wittichfuneralhome.com. Mr. Bartkus was born on April 4, 1914 in Dekalb, Illinois, the son of Joseph and Jennie Sardeko Bartkus. He married Charlotte W. McKillip on May 16, 1944, in Muscatine. He was a World War II veteran serving in the US Army in the South Pacific. He worked for the U.S. Post Office as a letter carrier for 20 years. He was a former of the Moose Lodge No. 388 He collected rocks and loved to garden. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Bartkus of Muscatine; three daughters, Denise A. Tucker of Kansas City, Kansas, Terri Junker and husband, Patrick, of Stillwater, Minnesota, and Janice E. Chatfield and husband, Douglas, of Muscatine; four grandchildren; and one sister, Jeanette Bartkus of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
