HAROLD BROWN ALEDO, Ill. - Harold L. Brown, 75, Aledo, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center Peoria. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at College Avenue Presbyterian Church. Burial, with military and Masonic honors will be held at Viola Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to the College Avenue Presbyterian Church, American Heart Association or Memorial Park in Aledo. Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo, is in charge of arrangements. He was born Sept. 22, 1926, in Keithsburg, Ill., to Walter R. and Jesse L. (Hayes) Brown. He married Kathryn Yarde on Aug. 28, 1949, at the Viola Presbyterian Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942-46. He worked in maintenance for the Aledo School District Unit #201 from 1960-89. He also worked for John Deere and farmed for Edwin Thornton. He was a member of the College Avenue Presbyterian Church; American Legion Post No. 121, Aledo; the Viola Masonic Lodge No. 577 AF amp; AM and served his second term on the Aledo City Council. He was instrumental in building Aledo Memorial Park. He enjoyed making flag poles, bird houses and squirrel feeders which gave him hours of nature watching. He was a devoted husband and father and adored his grandchildren. Survivors include wife Kathryn; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and William Dameron of Burlington, Iowa, Diane and Mark Hilton of Peoria, Ill., Laurie and Kenneth Berthel of Aledo; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
