JESS WHEELER SR.
GRANDVIEW, Iowa - Jess V. Wheeler Sr., 81, of Grandview, died on Monday, October 26, 2015, at Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction.
Graveside Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2015, Harrison Cemetery in rural Wapello. Family and friends are invited to the home of 'Bud' and Roxane Wheeler after the committal service at 17958 Highway 70, which is 2 miles north of Columbus Junction.
The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Jess was born on June 20, 1934, in Wapello, the son of Edward Everett and Leddie Mae Hindbaugh Wheeler. He married Donna Marie Johnson on September 25, 1954, in Muscatine. She preceded him in death in 1996.
He was a commercial fisherman all of his life. He had also worked at Grandview 4 Corners, Imperial Service Station, Skynook Truck Stop, and Brown's Fisheries.
Those left to honor his memory include four sons, Jessie 'Bud' Wheeler Jr. and wife, Roxane, of Conesville, Kenneth Wheeler, Thomas Wheeler, and James Wheeler, all of Muscatine; two daughters, Patricia Pettitt and husband, Thomas D. Pettitt III, and Rebecca Blodgett, both of Muscatine; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
Jess was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 42 years, Donna Wheeler; nine brothers, Wesley, James, Delno, Virgil, Everett, Junior, Theodore, Walter, and William; and his two sisters, Ruby Mae and Donna Jean. Jess was the last of his family to pass.
