MUSCATINE, Iowa - After a courageous fight against cancer, Joanna Minna Jacobs Wilts passed away at home on August 2nd, 2023.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Grace Lutheran Church. Reverend Susan Bantz will officiate. Ralph J. She was born on June 7, 1948 in Osterhusen, Hinte Germany to Edzard and Minna (Kahrels) Jacobs.
She was introduced to the love of her life, Paul Wilts, by family members in Germany, who encouraged her to be his pen pal while he served in the United States Navy. They married on July 21, 1967 in Hinte. Shortly after their marriage, Joanna immigrated to Iowa with Paul.
Joanna worked in the restaurant industry for over 40 years, retiring in 2007. In her retirement, she enjoyed gardening, needlework, reading, and travel. Her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Michael Wilts and wife, Tracey, of Muscatine, Diana Steiner and husband, Nate, of Boise, Idaho, Marc Wilts and wife, Mindy, of Chester, Virginia, and Christina Kotouc and husband, Zach, of Muscatine; grandchildren, Hannah Steiner, Joe Steiner, Emily Bellamy and husband, Cody, Alexander Wilts and wife, Alana, Nicholas Kotouc, Sam Kotouc, and Archer Wilts; great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Silas, and Delilah Bellamy, and Levi Wilts; a brother, Erich Jacobs; two sisters, Frieda Bl
