Lilbern Hollis Gentry Obituary

Lilbern Gentry OAKVILLE, Iowa #45;- Lilbern Hollis Gentry, 78, Oakville, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at the Great River Medical Center, West Burlington. Services are 10 a.m. Friday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello. The Rev. Chris Thomas will officiate. Pallbearers are Russell Timmerman, Richard Lehnert, Tom Wykert, Gary Richardson, Terry Riddell and Cody Grooms. Burial will be at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery, Burlington. Visitation is 3-6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established. Mr. Gentry was born on Feb. 7, 1924, in Fort Dodge, the son of William Lewis and Bethena Frances Gwin Gentry. He married Edna Louise Young on March 19, 1953, in La Plata, Mo. He graduated in 1942 from South Gifford High School in Missouri. He worked in construction through the Labor Union in Burlington. He enjoyed the outdoors, where he could fish and tinker with small engines and lawn mowers. He did wood carving. He enjoyed time spent with family, especially with the children. Survivors include his wife; a son, William Gentry of Oakville; a daughter, Nancy Hodges of Oakville; four grandchildren; a brother, Clifford Gentry of Indiana; a sister-in-law, Frances Hardy of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two half-brothers.
