LUCILLE CARVER MUSCATINE, Iowa - Lucille A. Carver, 93, of Muscatine, died on Saturday, December 18, 2010, at her home. Dr. Bruce Ursin and Dr. Hal Green will officiate the service. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 400 Iowa Avenue. Casket bearers will be Roy J. Carver III, Andrew B. Carver, Robert Roy Carver, Joseph Carver, Noel Carver, and Owen Carver. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Muscatine Humane Society. Lucille was born on July 27, 1917, in Muscatine, the daughter of Merle A. Young Sr. and Marie Kollman Young. She married Roy J. Carver Sr. on August 22, 1942, in Rock Island, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1981. Lucille was a former board member of Carver Pump Co., Carver Foundry Products, and Bandag Inc., and also a former trustee of the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust. Lucille's family and friends will remember her as steadfast and generous with a wonderful sense of humor. She loved animals, especially her cats. Those left to honor her memory include three sons, Roy J. Carver Jr. and wife, Pat, of Muscatine, John A. Carver and wife, Marcia, of Rapid City, Illinois, and Martin G. Carver and wife, Ruth, of Muscatine; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Clayton C. Carver in 1983; and one brother, Merle A. Young Jr. in 1995.
