Madeline Kofron TIPTON, Iowa #45;- Madeline F. Kofron, 86, Tipton, formerly of West Branch, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at her home after an extended illness. Graveside services are 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at Memory Garden Cemetery, Iowa City. The Barker Funeral Home, West Branch, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Kofron was born Nov. 25, 1917, near Tipton, the daughter of Ed and Emma Peters Wertz. She married Frank Kofron June 25, 1938, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He preceded her in death in 1997. She graduated from Tipton High School in 1936. In her early years, she had worked at the Hoover Hotel, West Branch, and later for Proctor and Gamble for 15 years. Survivors include two sons, Richard Kofron of Cedar Rapids and Wayne Kofron of Tipton; a granddaughter, Lisa Smith and husband Stan of Melbourne, Fla.; and a brother, Melvin Wertz of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Raymond and Robert.
