Melinda Pickard Whitehead, 75, was the daughter of John Henry Pickard and Teddy Reid Pickard of Barbourville, Ky. She was predeceased by husband Larry Whitehead and sisters Thelma, Kay and Amelia. She is survived by daughters Amelia (Walker Sloan) and Caitlin Armstrong. Her heart was filled with joy with grandchildren Cullen Roberts, Stella and Brycey Sloan. She also survived by sister, Emily Shaw, and nephews Lee, Adam, and Colby. She also leaves behind a beloved cat, Honey. She loved animals, sewing, creating, designing, cooking, her Midway Christian Church community and numerous friends. As a retired teacher, she never gave up on teaching and being a student of people. She was curious, optimistic and her spirit was never crushed even when faced with obstacles later in life. The family is so grateful for Helen Agee's devotion and patience. There will be a visitation Sunday, Nov. 13th, from 3-4 at Midway Christian Church with a service at 4:00 p.m. Donations can be made to the Woodford or Lexington Humane Societies.
