Merrill D. Sides MUSCATINE, Iowa - Merrill D. Sides, 68, Muscatine, passed away Monday, August 10, 2009, at her home in Muscatine. Per the family's wishes, no services will be held. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2009, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in her name. Merrill was born on September 17, 1940, in rural Memphis, Missouri, the daughter of Eldon and Lillian Stone Simerl. She married Donald Gene Sides on January 11, 1959, in Memphis, Missouri. She was employed at Muscatine Community College for several years. She was always a very neat person. She enjoyed staying at the cabin on the river, traveling to Branson on vacation, Christmas time and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Donald Sides of Muscatine; her children, Donnetta Brotherton and husband, John, of Grandview, Deborah Conard and husband, Rick, of Muscatine, Douglas Sides of Muscatine, Darren Sides of Lone Tree, Derrick Sides and wife, Michelle, of Fruitland, Deanna Gerdts and husband, Randy, of Columbus Junction and Dustin Sides and fianc
