MICHAEL J. LAMP SR. MUSCATINE, Iowa - Michael 'Mike' J. Lamp Sr., 67, of Muscatine, died on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at Trinity Medical Center at Terrace Park Campus, Bettendorf. Funeral Service will be 6 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2012, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend David Morris of the New Hope United Methodist Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2012, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Hospice Pathways Program or the American Diabetes Association. Mike was born on November 10, 1945, in Muscatine, the son of Orville H. and Virginia E. Payne Lamp. He was a graduate of Muscatine High School and Muscatine Community College. He was a US Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam Era. He married Carla J. Carroll on March 19, 1977, in Muscatine. He worked for the Muscatine Police Department for seven years from 1971 until 1978. He retired from HON in 2001. He also did prisoner transfers for the Muscatine County Sheriff's Department and was also a professional chimney sweeper. He was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post No 27. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and rode with the Blue Knights. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Carla Lamp of Muscatine; two sons, Michael J. Lamp Jr. of Maryland, and Christopher Lamp and wife, Dacia, of Des Moines; one daughter, Sara Williams and husband, Timothy, of North Carolina; five grandchildren, Jacob Mellow, Marrisa Mellow, Samuel Lamp, Zoie Lamp, and Paden Klein; three sisters, Lana J. Bartenhagen and husband, John, of Muscatine, Kathy J. Lamp of Muscatine, and Vikki J. Curry and husband, Terry, of Muscatine; and his mother-in-law, Carol Payne of Muscatine.
