PATTY SOTELO MUSCATINE, Iowa - Patty Sotelo, 52, of Muscatine, died Saturday, December 19, 2009, at her home. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Dan Schoepf will officiate the service. Honorary bearers will be Emmanuel Deleon and Joshua Bierman. Casket bearers will be Robert Hotchkiss Jr., Jose Molina Jr., Ricky Bierman Jr., Rosendo Ramos Jr., Luke Sanders, Seth Douglas, Brad Schneckloth, and Jason Bierman. Burial will be in Island Cemetery, Fruitland. A funeral luncheon will be held at Calvary Baptist Church following the committal service. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Reynaldo Sotelo Sr. Patty was born on August 2, 1957, in Muscatine, the daughter of Virgil and Shirley Jean Gerels Bierman. She married Reynaldo Sotelo Sr. on January 26, 1980, at the Glad Tidings Church in Muscatine. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and praying for others. She also enjoyed listening to music, playing games on the computer, and fishing. Survivors include her husband Reynaldo Sotelo Sr. of Muscatine; three sons, Daniel Brown of Des Moines, Rey Sotelo and wife, Trista, of Muscatine, and Matthew Sotelo and wife, Tenille, of Muscatine; one daughter, Malinda Sotelo of Muscatine; four grandchildren, Jesus Lopez, Matthew Sotelo Jr., Samuel Carmona, and Sander Sotelo; seven brothers, Virgil Bierman Jr. and wife, Dawn, of Muscatine, Rick Bierman and wife, Rhonda, of Muscatine, Rodney Bierman and wife, Toyna, of Muscatine, Larry Bierman and wife, Cheryl, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jack Bierman and wife, Linda, of Muscatine, Marty Allen Brown of Muscatine, and Randy Bierman of Moore, Oklahoma; four sisters, Alice Molina and husband, Joe, of Muscatine, Nancy Hotchkiss of Muscatine, Anna Deleon and husband, Emmanuel, of Muscatine, and Barb Marshall of Muscatine; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Karen Ramos and Betsey Bierman.
