Funeral Time: September 10th, 2021 Regina Owens Smith, age 82 , of Lexington Kentucky passed away peacefully on Saturday September 4, 2021. Born in Hueysville, Kentucky to the late Devert and Vivian Owens. Regina was a beloved wife to her late husband Don Lyman Smith, mother, Nana and sister. Her family is saddened for the loss of such a loving person, but thankful for the many memories of a long and blessed life. The family finds comfort in knowing that she is reunited with Jesus Christ, her husband, Don, her parents and many relatives. Regina attended Georgetown College and graduated from the University of Kentucky. Regina became an elementary teacher with Fayette County Schools. She is best known for her love and desire to teach her students to read and write. Regina was devoted to all her students and enjoyed her 24 years of teaching 2nd grade. When retiring she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved playing the piano and played for her church. Regina was also a former cheerleader for Hazard High School in Hazard, Kentucky. She cheered for the 1955 Hazard High boys state basketball champions. Regina's greatest pride and love in life were her children and their families. She is survived by her son Don Frederick Owens Smith (Carol) of Loganville, Ga., her son Joseph Anthony Smith (Angie) of Lexington, Ky., Her brother Devert Joseph Owens II (Judy) Lexington, Ky.; grandchildren Michelle Leigh Klubenspies (Matt), Michael Frederick Owen Smith (Brenttnie), Logan Joseph Smith and great-grandchildren Clayton Owen Klubenspies and Carleigh Blake Klubenspies.
