ROBERT CROW MUSCATINE, Iowa - Robert Edwin Crow, 101, of Muscatine, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at Lutheran Assisted Living. Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Muscatine. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com Robert was born on November 4, 1914, in Muscatine, where a 100th birthday was celebrated in November of 2014. He is the son of Samuel and Nira Bryant Crow. He married M. Geraldine Crow on August 11, 1937, in Aryshire, Iowa, and their wedding photos were taken at the Weed Park lagoon in Muscatine. In August of 2010, they celebrated their 74th anniversary. Geraldine preceded him in death on June 19, 2011. He was a U.S. Postal employee, serving on mail trains, and then pioneered the Highway Post Office buses that ran from Des Moines to Eastern Iowa. Geraldine and Robert were long time, active members of The First Baptist Church of Des Moines. The First Presbyterian Church embraced them both during their care in Muscatine. After 50 plus years of living and raising their family, they moved in March of 2004 to Lutheran Assisted Living (Valley View), where they were lovingly cared for by excellent staff. Those left to honor his memory are his two daughters, Deanna Koch of Muscatine and Roberta Forester of Colorado Springs, Colorado; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, Weldon Crow; and one sister, Thelma Griffin.
