Viola Irene Younkin-Watson RIVERSIDE, Iowa -Viola Irene Younkin-Watson, 88, of Riverside, died on Saturday, December 11, 2010, at her residence in the Riverside Senior Village. Graveside Service will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at Riverside Public Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Riverside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Washington Hospice in memory of Viola. Viola Irene Evans was born on March 8, 1922 in Woodland, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel and Zelma Michael Evans. She married Glenn Younkin in Riverside on February 6, 1943. Following Glenn's death, Irene married Albert Watson on June 18, 1966, also in Riverside. Irene worked at the University of Iowa. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards and sewing, especially quilts and pillow cases. She is survived by her son, Dwight Younkin and wife, Linda, of Iowa City; a sister, Fern Lewis of Washing-ton; a special niece, Glenna Atkins of New Mexico; and many other nieces and nephews. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a daughter, Joyce, five brothers, Henry, Elmer, Ernest, Marion and Orville, and three sisters, Lena, Margaret and Darlene.
