Winifred Hayes MOUNT CARMEL, Calif. #45;- Winifred Ruth Hayes, 87, Mount Carmel, formerly of Johnson County, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Sunbridge Care amp; Rehab, San Diego, Calif., after a lengthy illness. Graveside services are 12:30 p.m. Friday at Indian Creek Cemetery, Columbus Junction. Visitation is 10 a.m.-noon Friday at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home, 118 E. Main, Washington. Mrs. Hayes was born on Jan. 23, 1915, in Iowa, the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Effie Strong Fountain. She married Arthur Hayes. He preceded her in death in 1989. She was a homemaker. Survivors include sons, Art Hayes of Prole and Ron Hayes of Davenport; a daughter, Kim Hayes of Poway, Calif.; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lorene Bishop of Beaverton, Ore., Phyllis Fry of Moline, Ill., Ruby McGowan of Iowa City and Joyce Snyder of Columbus Junction. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Beaulah Boedman, Fern Fountain and Doris Howard; and three brothers, Lovell Fountain, Darrell Fountain and Grover Fountain Jr.
